Beware of the Blocked Ear Feeling

If you are healthy and one ear suddenly feels blocked, you should regard it as a medical emergency. A blocked or full sensation can lead to hearing loss or tinnitus in that ear, unless treated swiftly.
Unexpected nerve loss, known as sudden sensorineural hearing loss, can present just like this. Hearing loss is interpreted by the brain in many ways, including a sensation of being blocked or full.
If the diagnosis is not considered and not treated immediately, permanent deafness and troublesome tinnitus may be lifelong.
Simple high-dose steroids for 14 days gives most people a greater chance of a recovery.
